Thursday, Last day of lecture phase and beginning of full-time campaign
God's definately had his eye on this vision before I did. What an incredible day!
Started out with again long great walk on Boyes Drive to Kalk Bay and back. It all started with me jamming out to some great Christian tunes, oh and the Begees, and I see this man walking with such a bad limp. This old man who was so skinny, limping down the road. So, I felt bad, and I prayed for him at a distance. Then back on my way home, I saw him again. I thought, no no I must go to him. I remember it's very important to be laying handson people. God was telling me to go to him. Finally I brought up the boldness, I mean come on if I'm going to take on a campaign, might as well be brave enough to approach this stranger to pray for him,
so I did. He said his name was James and he'd been limping with pain in his knee for 10 years. I asked if I could pray for him at 7:30 in the morning. He agreed and I knelt down and just asked God to come into his quivering knee and heal him in Jesus name. I prayed and prayed for more joy to be upon this beautiful human being God created.
Now I can't say he walked on water after, but I did say thank you for letting me pray for you and we walked away, and he was still limping. BUT, it was interesting to see him as I walked up th ehill he walked down, we kept looking back at each other. So I know God's going to heal him and change his life. Thank you father, for giving me the courage!
Then I went to class at 8:30, and we worshipped, prayed for each other and our outreach needs.
At 10, we came together and played the coolest game. We didn't know exactly what it was about, but we split into 2 teams, alpha and beta. I was in beta and in our worlds, for 20 minutes w were trained into our new culture, language, my beta world we traded these cards in exchange for the right color and number and oh it was crazy being able to do only certain amount of talking and hand motions that's weren't even english. The other team alpha had this relational community we didn't unerstand about. We'd both get to send ambassadors to each team to scope them out and try and understand and mingle with the new culture. Oh we played for an hour! I even thought in our individualistic culture, we were competeing to get the most cards, so I just WENT! I had the most points, but found out in the end, we weren't even told it was a game, but that my innate westernized culture created this competativeness in me.
Then we finished with few announcements, taught the teams some tricks for new cultures, then we were done!
THen i ran into Cristian, and he said he got a small meeting with a few of the guys at media village. He said they only have a few minutes but we can ask questions and get the abstinance video. So we left for a 3pm meeting.
It was awesome they were all there cleaning up the building getting ready to graduate their schools and head out for holidays. Caught Graham the head master, and he gave me the copy of the actual realistate book for media village to copy/scan, I'll be getting that out soon to fully look at it especially if you're interested let me know!
Met with katani and PK and more about their film, asked about doing commercials, or interview, adverts, photo shots, even websites. Guess what? Out of that creative place, we had contacts and emails to all sorts of students. One say he makes websites, he's bored over christmas and would love to create one! WOW, Cristian and I almost fell over!
Then, we had them all introducing themselves saying basically we'd love to help, do the work, it's free service, just whatever it costs to print, or filming stuff, is what you will pay. Depends on what we get. Say we do a photo shoot, that's free, then they come back and design the advert or flyer, and it just costs to print. EVERYTHING ELSE FREE! So we even met with and Cristian already knew the lady who is in charge of what productions go on. So for the new school coming in and interns, we threw the possibility of working with us on this project. A possibly film, photo shoots, even a few girls are creative designers, graphics, I said we still need a logo with slogan, or phrase to put on our website. So all good things and perhaps not only would we get to work with them, imagine if someone buys the place for us to work in, we're already all there together! God you're sooooo good!
Many also had contacts to other film places who are christian, and a few magazine companies as well.
We left with all those contacts, hopes, friends, ideas, and smiles!
We also got the video of this Uganda documentory on the abstinance campaign. We need to watch it.
I finished off the day meeting up with my friend Kirwin whom I've been dying to learn more about since i've been so busy. He took me to this place Cape to Cuba, and oh we had a splendid time!
I'm so tired, sorry I haven't called any of you yet, Shawn, Tad, but soon!
Goodnight it is!
ps
Dad, when I think of this media village being a dream, I always feel like Loren Cunningham about the boat. Funny you spoke about it. Please keep praying as will I. I'm trying to keep him first because that's how it will happen.
Amen
