Next is Oratory:
Tongues
Then Power gifts:
Miracles, Faith, and healing
The short practical value of learning these gifts and using them is for things like evangelism!
Jason gave us this story of his old job where he was a banker. He worked this woman who was a muslim. He had this sense that she didn't really enjoy her job and he also wanted to tell her about God. Jason wasn't sure how but prayed to the HS. He got the word Physical Therapist while praying for her. So he basically went up to her to talk about life in general and then asked if she'd ever wanted to be a physical therapist. She lit up and couldn't believe he'd been reading her mind she thought so had to ask how he knew. There was an immediate response to tell her that is wasn't him it was God. The HS spoke in him to speak to her. Right then and there he said he helped her ask Jesus Christ into her heart and lead her towards her passions that she was too afraid to go after. Pretty incredible eh?
You can also use the HS in the business world. Here in YWAM, we have people who pray for property prices or bidding prices to purchase property and have the HS lead their paths. This has had many great stories behind it about getting 'free' land or donated, or waited til the right time to get confirmation of a much lower price that initally was being asked for.
You still again need wisdom of discerning of the HS, but Jason taugh me that you can even ask God about finances and numbers. We even did the strangest demonstration in class. Jason pulled out this question about numbers, I think I already wrote about this, but he asked us to choose this number between like 100 and 200. He said take a moment to ask the HS about what number it is I have written down. 1 Person got it. But he said if you truly want a gift of disercement and learning about the gifts, you need to practice. Just like a sport, pratice with God in hearing or feeling his HS. Kale, yes even with the market if this excites you, ask God to show you how to understand and hear him in this area of life. Jason said that we usually think sometimes it takes hard thinking prayers and time to come up with an answer from God, but most the time he learned it was usually the first thought or number that popped into his head. We think, "I'm not sure, but my first thought was.." but don't second guess the inate nature God has given us with the HS inside.
I'm super tired and must get to bed, I didn't get all the notes but will bring more. Pray for internet connection. If you could, also pray for my knee that either it is healed or that at least the insurance will get sorted and pay for doctor visits and maybe surgery. I love you, good night!
