Nov 2nd, lecture Christian Life from Michael Leeson

Why did Jesus come into the world?
To use the 'gospel' to restore his 'Kingdom'.
Michael taught us I thought this week about the most pertinent component to understanding how to live lives in this world as 'missionaries' in ALL we do. Practically. So if someone on the street asks, what is the good news? How do we answer? If we're out on outreach evangelizing, what does that mean? How do we answer the complete simple questions that leave us with blank stares, wanting to just answer...JESUS.
So the good news of the kingdom all originates from the beginning of time when the Kingdom was perfect with Adam and Eve, and then the fall of destruction-->sin and death entered.
Ever since we've been trying to restore this once peaceful garden we were in with Him.
This Kingdom that once reigned in perfect harmony, was there in unity. The father son and holy spirit is a relational unit. So relationships we have with God, like Adam had with God chillin in the Garden, is what God desires of us with people and him. This complete unity.
God made all the earth for people. He put them in a garden. You work in a garden right? You don't just sit there and things begin to grow magically and perfectly. You have to pull weeks, and plants seeds, and nurture the growth within. God walks in the garden with people. So clearly already in the beginning, God created us to do work. Not just sit on our butts.
Romans 5:12 Sin and Death were not a part of God's original design. This 'fall' created separation between People and God.
Think about it. What is natural in this world? HIV? Garbage? Smog? Disease? Those things were not original.
The Word became flesh...Jesus came into the world, after our sin.
Michael taught us that the word Word, means Logos, which is logic. Jesus is minset of God...logical.
So how/why would God do this? Look at Jesus' life.
Jesus Resurrection:
1. Union with God (access to God)
2. Union with Others
3. Resore Us -value, identity, uniqueness
Jesus came to restore His original intention. Conquer sin and death.
John 16:7 "...it is to your advantage that I go away." If Jesus didn't leave us, then we would not have received the Holy Spirit, which is access to God. That means I can live my life like Jesus.
Colossians 1:15-20 "...all things were created for Him." To reconcile ALL things back to Him. Jesus came to calim the WORLD and bring it back to God. Think about what ALL means? ALL, yes is ALL. The yard, house, cars, food, things and people...it goes on and on because ALL.
So picture the "kingdom"
This wonderous place, we get to choose now to enter and ALL things in it. Yes now with this fantastic gift of the Holy Spirit we receive when we ask to receive Jesus into our hearts. What can we do then to serve in God's Kingdom? The possibilities are ENDLESS
When we focus on the spiritual dimention, like speaking in tongues, or praying and hearing God's voice, it's so much more than that. It's actually so much simpler than those things.
We can make god known by working with the things He's made. Exploring, changing, growing, learning and discovering God is the process.
The Word says, -you are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world...so get out there! More to come :)
