Journal entry, for questions: Write your own 1 Corinthians 13 1-8
Truly the greatest love and expression of love, God shows us.
Fancy words, acts, gifts, favors aren't enough to love. How easily is this word thrown around. I love your shoes. I love to workout. I love him. I love you. This repition can give less value to this powerful feeling.
Without living out true love in everything you do, it means nothing. To say I love you to at the alter and say I love you after your wife spent all your savings isn't easy. That's where I think the term though loves comes from.
This ties into the true definition of what the act of love really is. Helping the other with what they can't, ought not already do themselves. As a parent, tough love is teaching your todler to put their own dishes away. Then progressing to learning how to cook as a teenages. Someday they won't have their mother, so they will be able to care for themselves.
Lastly I'd like to point out how we can measure our true love. Take it home. Loving your parents and 'loved ones' is probably the hardest. So if you can learn there with patence, it should then emit into the rest of your life.
