What have I been up to?

Well it's Sunday and it's unbelievably gorgeous out! Yes it's probably going to be 95 again today. I just stopped by Cristian's to get laptop, and great news, for now, he has a computer at his place, a block away from base with an internet card! Yes always internet all times, his own computer! Great! It's Proper's a guy on base who needed place to store for awhile. Amen!
I will probably swim later, then get more work done. I really want actual "mission" and sorta a proposal outline done! That was proper goal, for both me, others, and our website and be up with how, whom, when etc. However, I couldn't see the vision, until I cleared things up with Elaine and Cristian.
We met Friday to first of all, compare and see the results Cristian got from all his HIV research. Elaine and i listen and also she did her best to say her two bits of what she knows. In the end, it's mind blowing! SOmething like (averaging low) approximately yes 1 in 4 people in SA living with HIV. Women age 25-29 1 in 3 at the moment.
LAST YEAR ALONE, 700 PEOPLE DIED A DAY IN SOUTH AFRICA FROM HIV/AIDS!
Also very dodgy stats here and there for this and that reasons, but that's a great guestimate from all the top organizations etc.
THEN, we spoke about vision. I have been stuck with where to point our direction. Do we say, Yes to this abstain 2010 campaign to prevent anything from getting worse here in SA, and then we push and get organizations, as well as work on government to create strategic plan at aiming for long-term abstain campaign taught, pushed throughout the nation.
I didn't even want to go on the radio here yet, because they would ask all these questions and I just am/wasn't certain at all yet, even our mission!
Elaine said, you have a great plan/goal, but it's so large and you have to think about an entire nation, with many different government practices and views throughout like the DA, ANC, etc., that you have to try and make sure they're all saying and doing the same thing like what happened in Uganda AND, if you say in your mission statement that you want partners and funding for long-term and use the WC2010 as springboard, BUT you don't get the hype and energy and exposure to WC 2010 project, then their money won't go into what you said you'd do. SO, she said I think you should put in their that you desire, if successful, to push for a long-term plan within country, but for now, we are going to make awareness by declaring abstinence for WC2010, and desire for it to continue and be taught after.
I felt both saddened and relieved to think that oh man, I want to have this nation-wide change like Uganda and perhaps the government will actually be awakened and the churches and on and on and that's how my mind of course works in BIG-longterm visions! BUT, start small. I have God, but I need to be tangible, and work on this project WITH my only team of basically 2 at the moment. More are coming I know!
BUT she's right in saying, promote people to get on board and see how you can do this after, but until then work on what you can with prevention during WC2010 and then we gain people and hearts on the way to do more later. I sighed with relief. Vision is clearer now.
Friday, after sitting in front of a screen, trying to do all this research and figure out how to get a clear concise mission, I failed after 8 hours, then I had meeting wtih Elaine, and had to go for long walk to Fish Hoek to get away. I bought some new goggles and swimming cap since school principle told me to. Then, my new French friend Yael, he took me out for Thai and we enjoyed chatting about everything and God, which he'd never really heard about. I thought it was absolutely amazing that he really hadn't had a clue even what the new and old testament was, and yet it reflects a well-traveled intelligent human being, even still, needs to hear the message. I was so thrilled to tell him what i knew, and he was still so open and curious it got me completely energized and excited even more of God and his awe!
Saturday I accidently woke up at 11am. I haven' done that in awhile. Lydia and I laid by pool, ran/swam laps in it then I ran around lil Muizenberg trying to purchase some veggies for our curry she was going to teach me to make. I met these great guys at the roots cafe in the lil village a few blocks from my place who are locals and demanded I sit and chat with them. We of course have seen each other but never properly met. they then walked me to another veggie stand, and invited me over for Whiskey, which I kindly denied and went home to stir up Lydia's amazing red Indian curry! Oh we had such a great time! Then we finally ventured over to our new neighbors braai, the Frenchie Yael, German Thomas, and Lulu the Frenchie too, but he's leaving soon. They were jamming and had fantastic company over. It was so nice to hear garage musicians jamming and singing and completely caught up in the moment. Been a long time! Andie just like when your dad jammed in the garage! I heard a bit of Jimmy for you!!!
Anyways, I slept great and moving on! Mom, I hope you're not getting too bored cleaning house, and don't be in a rush with the book, I've not gotten far, and it's huge!
Dad, you have my full support!
Oh, and the church, do they want Kim to speak there? SHe's been asking,
Love you all, have great day!
