Updating lecture, Evangelism week and Journal
So I really don't wanna go through the notes I wrote on Evanglism to the end. It was a fantastic week, but I feel so behind and wanna press forward with this past week and other thoughts. If you have more questions I'm more than happy to share what knowledge I acquired from the lovely couple, but I really feel nothing more will get me the understanding and acceptance of Evangelism than actually doing it. So my outreach, which is suppose to be primarily evangelism, going out and helping the nations to know Jesus, that's when it will come out.
I will however put what I had in my journal online from that week's questions.
I was to tell my 'story' to someone.
I honestly didn't get this journal request until after, but the weekend of evangelism sorta fel upon my lap.
First, Saturday morning, Justine, Juice and I were walking to Kalk Bay. Beautiful day and we strolled by this man with a sign around his neck and looked crippled in his hands. We got 10 feet past and Justine says, "Do you think that man knows Jesus?" I look and think, I have no clue unless you asked. So she goes, "Should we go find out?" We all of course said yes because how could we not? So we huddled on our way to him praying, God please help us. We got to him and this old man had this sign around his neck asking for $ for some ministry. We tlaked with him and realized of course this is a man of God. He seemed so pleased to have our attention and we said where we were from and what we were doing.
We asked to pray for him and we did. He tells us about how he tries to help this ministry and how he had a phone but it was stolen. We asked then to possibly be able to contact osmeone else to perhaps get a hold of him again to help him. Maybe ask for funds with him sometime.
Everything was awesome and even after we got a contact to reach him and him waving to us and saying you'll reach me as we walked for probably 30 steps...Justine then tells us how a phone was donated by an SBS student and it totally matched his request! God is so good, knowing that we were going to run into this man who needed a phone, that we just had fallen upon our laps :)
Later that day I prayed God would help me to do more of this evangelism. I walked to the gym in Fish Hoek. Right as I get to the locked door, a man gets there the same time as I. Just as frustrated as I was that the gym was closed at 3 in the afternoon on a saturday! But he instantly strikes up "where are you from? YWAM? You a christian here to convert me?"
As he laughs but sitll goes on to say..."Will you pray for me? I've really been lost and studying this and that and feeling that I'm such an athliest but want to believe in him!" So WOW God pulled thi man on my doorstep for a reason. I say of course and we continue to sit and talk and he says so much to me, but I got to only 'try' and answer a few of his many questions. He was very chatty yet very interested in God and gave me his email. (Also to meet his nephew because he says I need to 'save' his nephew too). So that's a seed lanted as I've been praying fo rhim and emailed him. TBC...
The 2nd Journal thing to do was write out my story in bullet format
I just want to share, that I'm totally confused at what exactly 'my story' is still. Raised in a christian home, but feeling like I've been on this rollarcoast of ups and downs, closer and far away constantly. At least I have many places to talk about to relate to others right? Here's an attempt.
-Born/raised in a Christian home, God was my best friend
-rebelled against God/parents in HS
-Church camps/youth pastor Jess were always keeping me in check
-College-->WPC turned me away a bit with partiers in the sports teams and many 'hypocrites' I felt giving me the wrong impression of how I wanted to live as a Christian
-CU--->still partied a lot
-Boyfriend
-Parents divorced
-Changed brother's life REAL walk with God began for him
-this changed me by the change I saw in my brother's life
-break up with BF, begin my travels/missions/soccer/different jobs
-Mississippi, volunteered, partied
-NZ-soccer, partied, searching for more depth (impactful but not bringing more to God intentionally)
-not enough helping people and girls soccer
-need depth
....which leads me to doing this DTS here in SA!
