Wrap up before bed

Events and little things to try and tell I'll try and recap. Again you all know me, I'm scattered but will do my best.
We all have duties on base and mine was elected to be supper clean-up. I do that everyday with a team. The food I'm sorry to say isn't the greatest, and I'm learning how to cope with finding the best ways to get the best food in me. I have done a bit of shopping for things like eggs, granola bars, carrots etc. Whenever I get some good food like we had lentils in this mixture of veggies the other day, I put some in a dish for another meal. I'm making it work.
I had the best meal of Sushi and Miso soup in the fanciest seafood restaraunt yet on Sunday.
I went with some of the SBS (School of Biblical Studies) students, like my new good friend Grace from Oklahoma to church in Cape Town. We went to Hillsong United and then the only nearby restaraunt after was this nice seafood and I couldn't be the only one not to go. I didn't have much Rand on me and Grace graciously made me feel like a princess with her and treated me. Wow what a grand girl in the Lord that young thing is. I really like her. Her, I and Isak also purchased a key to this nearby outdoor school pool to swim whenever we want. For 3 months, 125 Rand was great! However, the cold has gotten to me!
Also we're strating our 'local' outreaches here in Muizenberg and surrounding areas. I applied for the soccer outreach, but really with Grabriel in the WC 2010 team, it's turned into working side by side with them and creating an outreach through that. So far very vague, but I think it will be just up my alley. Just as long as I physically get out and involved. (Won't be hard).
Friday night I went with Isak to see this DTS team from Jeffery's Bay, 8 hours up the coast base to see them perform at this church's youth night. So their DTS 'Art' focus team, are doing their 3 month outreach around SA. They have been awesome to see doing dancing, singning, acting, and even stomping. But, the coolest part was going into their pre-show meeting was seeing how they weren't feeling the show at first to perform without the glory of the Lord behind their passion. I mean this is real stuff, going day to day to share the gospel in whatever way and having that LOVE and energy everytime! It's realistic. I totally felt this way when I was promoting girls football in NZ. I didnt' want to go everyday into schools or to camps, but in the end it was all worth it.
We went to the house they were staying at after and heard them debrief their session and how they felt about everything. Some really cool cats in that group especially from US :)
Saturday me along with a few other girls went to this Women's 'Inner beauty' conference at this nearby church, Muizenberg Church. This is connected with the George Whitefield College there. This is all literally within 2 blocks from our YWAM base. So we had breakfast and fellowshipped with other women. I really enjoyed that.
I remember praying earlier in the week, for God to bring something for me to do saturday. I wanted to do ANYTHING but be on base, just to get away for a moment! I started walking down the street to go running or something when this guy I'd met before named Yan walked out of the housing at the George Whitefield school. He walked right up to me and asked if I was doing anything that night. I laughed because of my prayer. I said no. He then asked me if I'd ever played Mafia. I said YES I love that game! So he invited me and any other YWAMers to play. He said what I'd been feeling, about needing to connect these two Christian schools together who don't even know each other for being so dang close!
I tried to promote it back at the base, but no one but Grace came with me. We had a blast! Oh man I loved it and getting to know and meeting other fellow students. We now have it planned to do it again this coming Saturday and with more people! This time around I've done a better job at promoting!
Sunday, like I said I went to church then ate with the SBSers, then I tried to hurry back on the really late train for Melanie's bday celebration on the beach, but I missed it. I then went into my new favorite place, the Big Blue, restaraunt/bar/surf shop to meet my new friend Tony. He is an old man who apparently has and does work for an NGO or many NGO's all over AFrica. Specifically right now in Angola. We chatted more and he even had more friend's for me to meet who are locals. I met Jerry the owner and his wife. Man some great folk to take in. Reminds me of my friends back in Ocean Springs Mississippi with Ron and Dave and their older crew who watched out for me. Then to NZ where John and Alfie and the possie watched over me too. I even had Tony's friend Dave saying, now if you need anything, please don't be afraid to ask. He offered for a cell phone, or any sightseeing to be done. Gosh they're great. Jerry's wife was lovely too. I'm just too blessed!
Anyways, I'm really tired but that's a decent update for now.
Dad I've been praying for you. Mom I miss you so so much and wanna talk but what're your skype name I guess is what I should be asking?
Oh and guess what? Jeff you'd like this story, I have some sort of similar bite or SOMETHING on my hand like I had that crazy spider bite on my leg from the whitetail in NZ. Yeah well, I made sure to get it taken care of earlier just in case so went to the doctor today because it wasn't looking great and my great Protea Insurance paid for the YWAM doc's visit, but had to pay 200 something rand for the anti biotics and pro biotics. Should get better. Man though I have no idea what has bitten me and the doc literally glanced at it for 15 seconds and say, ah, probably a mosquito. Whatever, I'm at least alive and doing better.
Love you guys, oh and Kale, I know you're in Hawaii and there must be a YWAM base or a few I've heard about. I want you to go and at least have a meal with them and talk with them on base. My friend Grace said she knows some contacts. If you get a chance look up YWAM Ohahu online for contact info maybe. Could be cool.
Good night!

  1. This is all so excellent. It's indescribably cool.

You're still in my prayers and will be as long as you're over there. Kinda weird not having you around here but it's good to know you're doing something with your life that most of us only get to dream of.
