Truth needs to be our filter:
We need to allow truth to before our filter.
Hebrews says we run a race. We take off weights/sin and see Him at the end. Do we ever get to the end? Christian walk is getting closer to that goal. But, knowing it's going to take eternity. When we see grace, it will motivate US!
He is so big we can't fathom.
I guess the conversation I remember from this idea was trying to think about God in a literal way. He is Just, and he is Gracious. But because of sin we have to have that justification. So a few questions were asked.
What happens to babies who die?
What happens to those who commit suicide, where do they go?
What happens to the people who live in the bush, who don't live in a society where they have even heard of God or Jesus?
What about those people in this world who have a mental illness, are they saved?
This was hard and is hard. But if we take away emotion, think logically. If God saves 'us' through our accepting him into our hearts, and at that moment, we're eternally in HIS kingdom forever, then that means at that point, we're saved. Now you look at these other types, babies, people who have never heard and you instantly think that's unfair. Well go back to the facts and not feelings. God is a God who is Just and Loving. There's Law. Ever since the fall of sin, there's Justification. Basically there is consequences for sin. So in a black and white sense, babies haven't asked Jesus into their hearts. Those who have never heard of Jesus don't even know he exists to ask into their lives to save them. Same with the rest. People who commit suicide, they probably are more on the category of mental illness, where they aren't right in the head which leads to the conclusion that if they really knew God was accepted into their heart, then they couldn't/wouldn't kill something from Him.
So, initially no they aren't saved. BUT, BUT, you must look at it in a different direction. If a father is constantly asking his 3 year old to ask Jesus into their hearts just to have a sigh of relief, then that's sorta like living by 'works' again. We want to hope that with that 'unsaved' categories, that God stil can find goodness. Babies for sure, like Chris said, just have to believe that God is good and that they should be meeting the rest of us there in heaven. But we really don't know.
Now for those in the Bush, some feel it's better to leave them untarnished and not go in and tell them about this God who saves them forever. But that means they won't have eternal life. If you look at the Gospel, (good news), then if they don't accept Him into their hearts, they won't go to heaven. WE have a calling, a duty, to reach those who haven't been reached. As christians, as children of God, we need to help them find grace and a relationship with God.
This could go on forever, but at least I could touch upon a bit of that. Basically it's reiterating this concept of 'going unto the nations' as God says to. ALL are His.
