Thursday Day 4, continued...
Sorry so much has made today just crazy. I won't say much about it since it's not my place, but a dear servant of the Lord who as on staff here on this base, passed away today. Shocking moment for all and so please pray towards Muizenberg base and to just heal all who are mourning.
Basically the day shut down because of the tragedy. Everyone's shook up. Emotionally for sure exhausted. I ended the day climbing one of the mountains behind Muizi with Christina and Izak, and that was a great escape and beauty to reflect. Thank you Lord for holding him tightly in your heart and now kingdom.
I guess for myself I began the day with sleeping in for once on this trip because usually I've been running, and I played football till I slightly pulled my hip flexor. Man those pick up games Monday and Wednesdays on the field where it's just random people from the different schools on base and then locals. The locals blow me away. This guy, boy, shows up in slippers and just moves the ball so well! I finally had to pull out yesterday because I had lost my fitness and was hurting a bit.
Still I'm so glad to be finding some football. I found AIS, I think as I've mentioned before. Another great sports ministry that plays great women's football in leagues around the world to minister to them. Well I found some contacts that lead me to the coach here in Cape Town. The season begins in 4 weeks, but training began Tuesday.
I have no idea if I'm good enough or more importantly if and how I could play if I make it. They train Tuesday and Thursdays about 20 minutes by car, away. They coach is running a fitness session on the beach here in Muizenberg Saturday. I get to meet him and the team and see where I might be able to fit.
Who knows, maybe it's something for the future, but I'd like to try. Good to know more at least. And I found some street kids to begin to hopefully play with.
I'm discovering how very small this town is. Everyone knows everyone and even the street kids asked if I was from the YWAM base.
For school we have book reports we're starting. I'm reading the book, Is That Really You, GOD? by the founder of YWAM Loren Cunningham. We also have journal entries to begin to consider this weekend. But mostly we've been understanding everything about YWAM and creating our own environment.
What struck me yesterday, was when we talked about different cultures and they way they pray, or food they eat, or how they eat, etc. With a class of 28, our leader Paul asked who here doesn't speak English as their first language, and over 20 raised their hands. I remember Bree and I just with open mouths.
So basically people are not only learning what I'm learning, but processing the translation as well. Figuring words to fit here and there to pray, or even to just listen to others speak in their accents and English. I was just really set back on how fortunate I am to
